Alabama school system fends off cyber attack Updated May 04, 2021; A North Alabama school system says it thwarted an attempted cyber attack last week. Madison City Schools Superintendent Ed Nichols told WHNT the system’s technology team was alerted to a potential security threat on the afternoon of April 29th. Critical systems were pulled offline to analyze the threat and the team spent the weekend working on the issue, believed to have been an attempt to lock down the network and hold it for ransom. “The good news is they weren’t able to lock us down. They did not get any data from us to our knowledge,” Nichols said.
