Cebu City targets 400 vaccinations per site per day

SunStar Photo by Amper Campaña March 11, 2021 THE Cebu City Government is looking at vaccinating 400 individuals per site per day when it will roll out its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination program for the public. Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella said that priority sectors in the city’s public vaccination program include barangay health workers, private doctors, and medical workers from laboratories outside hospitals and birthing centers. The Cebu City Government continues to search for and prepare areas with wide spaces to follow the health protocol on social distancing. “The Vaccine Board has already inspected areas to be used as public vaccination sites. We are also in talks with malls that have offered to provide additional sites for the Covid-19 vaccination rollout,” said Labella.

City collects P7 37B in taxes in 2020

SunStar File photo THE Cebu City Government collected P7.37 billion in taxes in 2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella made the disclosure during his first day back in office on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. The City’s efficient tax collection in 2020 resulted in Cebu being recognized by the national government as one of 10 cities in the country with the highest rate when it comes to locally sourced revenue last year, Labella said. The City also ranked fourth out of 156 cities in the country when it comes to tax collection efficiency. Labella said should the City adapt to a “new normal setting,” it can achieve its yearly tax collection targets through efficient tax collection.

Cebu City retains swab test requirement, except for Apor

SunStar SunStar File March 06, 2021 INBOUND domestic travelers to Cebu City will still need to present negative swab test results, although they will no longer be required to undergo quarantine for 14 days. Only those authorized persons outside of residence (Apor) are exempted from the RT-PCR requirement. Other requirements, such as the medical certificate and travel authority from the Joint Task Force Covid Shield, have been dropped in compliance with the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to ease travel requirements. The City Governments of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, on the other hand, have dropped the swab test, medical certificate and travel authority requirements.
