MANGALURU: In one of the largest cluster outbreak in the city after the decline of cases since a month, forty-nine students of a nursing college in Ullal have tested positive to Covid-19. The college campus has been turned into containment zone till February 19.
Out of 104 samples of staff and students tested, 49 BSc nursing students from Kerala, including 11 boys have been tested positive.
Dr Ashok H, nodal officer for Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada told TOI that six male students tested Covid positive on January 29. We soon rushed to the institute and realised that on the same day, students from Kerala, going to Bengaluru for an exam, had travelled to the college in a bus, had bath, breakfast and stayed there for less than two hours. We got the whole area sanitized. RT-PCR tests were conducted on all the 104 staff and students, including cooks and cleaners. Four test reports are pending.
