India crosses 15 crore mark in cumulative vaccination coverage

The ferocious second wave showed no signs of halting as India reported 3,79,257 new cases Thursday, but the good news was that the case fatality rate declined to 1.11%, and the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 15 crore.
Cumulatively, 15,00,20,648 vaccine doses have been administered through 22,07,065 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am Thursday. These include 93,67,520 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 61,47,918 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,23,19,903 FLWs (1st dose), 66,12,789 FLWs (2nd dose), 5,14,99,834 1st dose beneficiaries and 98,92,380 2nd dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 5,10,24,886 (1st dose) and 31,55,418 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60
BMC receives fresh stock of Covishield vaccines

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 29 (ANI): The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received a fresh stock of Covishield vaccines ahead of the third phase of the vaccination drive which begins on May 1.
This stock of vaccines which was arrived on Wednesday night will be distributed only to the government and Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) Covid Vaccination Centres and not be distributed to any private vaccination centres.
The distribution process started on Thursday morning and all the government and MCGM Covid Vaccination Centres will be functional only post 12 pm. Good News Mumbai! We are receiving a fresh stock of Covishield tonight to be distributed only in government and MCGM hospitals/ centres (not private) tomorrow morning. So, all the government and MCGM CVCs will be functional but only post 12 pm, the BMC has tweeted on Wednesday.

Mumbai: A huge rush was witnessed outside government and civic-run vaccination centres across Mumbai. Over the past four days, Mumbai has seen a slight dip in cases but seems like Mumbaikars are rushing to the centres owing to shortage of vaccine doses. Many senior citizens are complaining about the hours-long wait they have to endure to get inoculated.

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) on Wednesday announced that 40 out of 73 private COVID-19 vaccination centres in the city will remain closed on Thursday due to insufficient vaccines stock.
MCGM also appealed to people that only those who want to take the second dose should come for vaccination on April 29.
