Entire municipal station in Aurora under strict monitoring after cop tests positive for COVID-19

Published January 21, 2021, 10:16 AM CAMP VICTOR RAVINA, Baler, Aurora – The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) has placed the entire Baler Municipal Police Station (BMPS) under strict monitoring after a newly promoted police non-commissioned officer (PNCO) assigned in this capital town has tested positive of the coronavirus disease-19 (Covid-19). The tightly-guarded Baler Aurora Police Station where contacts of the lone cop who tested positive for COVID-19 underwent RT-PCR testing. (Baler MPS/Ariel P. Avendaño) Hector dela Torre, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) told the Manila Bulletin that the policeman has been immediately placed under 14-days quarantine isolation protocols since testing positive on Jan. 19.

Search continues for missing fisherman in Southern Leyte

Published January 14, 2021, 11:30 AM TACLOBAN CITY – Authorities are still searching for a fisherman from Silago, Southern Leyte who went missing Monday, January 11, after fishing in stormy weather. A search and rescue operation has been launched for Tirso Palaña Jr., 57, from Barangay Mercedes of Silago town. Their motorbanca has been reportedly hit by strong waves and current brought about by the tail-end of the frontal system (Shearline). Palaña’s companion, Abbie Liguid, was found safe on Tuesday, January 12, in the Province of Dinagat Islands in the Caraga region about 180 km from their hometown. The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Silago is appealing to the public for any information on the missing fisherman.

DavOr residents forced to evacuate due to landslide

(Photo courtesy of LGU Nabunturan Facebook page/ MANILA BULLETIN ) In a statement, the local government unit (LGU) of Nabunturan said five residents were evacuated and are currently staying with their relatives after they received a report of a landslide incident in Purok 4 in the said barangay. The 24/7 Radio Room/Dispatch of the local government was informed that a resident has not yet evacuated following the landslide incident. Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Nabunturan Emergency Response Team (MDRRMO-NERT) sent a team from the Collapsed-Structure Search and Rescue Unit (CSSRU) to respond to the report. There was no resident trapped in the affected house contrary to the report but a person with disability lives near the area where the landslide occurred. No casualty was recorded, the LGU said.

8 injured in bus crash

SunStar Photo credit to Nabunturan LGU + December 31, 2020 EIGHT individuals were injured when a passenger bus overturned after it slid on a slippery road and crashed sidewards on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, in Barangay Mipangi, Nabunturan in Davao de Oro. In a report posted by the Nabunturan local government unit (LGU), the vehicular accident involving a public utility bus (PUB) happened around 4 p.m. at Km. 80 in Purok 1, in Mipangi. The LGU reported that all eight individuals who obtained minor injuries were immediately brought to hospitals and were later discharged. While all other passengers received first aid and were also cleared, it was not clear how many passengers were on board during the accident.
