The Combat Anti-Semitism Movement has grown quickly since its creation in 2019, attracting members of Congress and mayors of major cities to its online events and building a coalition of more than 300 Jewish organizations. It presents itself as apolitical, though its coalition skews conservative and includes the Clarion Project, which has been labeled an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The Jewish Institute for Liberal Values, or JILV, also states that it is nonpartisan, “opposes the imposition of ideology, encourages open discussions of challenging topics, and is committed to achieving a more just America.”

American Jewish organizations should avoid the hyper-partisanship sweeping our country and instead articulate clear-eyed, balanced, objective assessment of our government’s performance. They should applaud sensible actions while also voicing criticism of troublesome decisions. They should judiciously avoid political bias knowing that their opinions telegraph to American leadership important perspectives about domestic and international policies affecting Jews, Israel and the nation at large.

JCPA calls China’s treatment of Muslim Uyghur minority ‘genocide’
(JTA) – The Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the main policy umbrella for U.S. Jewish groups, resolved to protest what it called China’s “genocide” of its Muslim Uyghur minority. “The Jewish community should call upon the CCP to end the genocide and exploitation of the Uyghurs, as well as halt the oppression of other ethnic and religious minorities living within its borders,” the JCPA, which brings together most national groups and virtually every local Jewish community relations council, said in a resolution at its two-day annual conference held virtually this week.

(JNS) Jewish groups reacted to the verdict on Tuesday of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was found guilty of murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.
Floyd’s death on May 25, 2020, touched off massive worldwide protests, violence and an examination of U.S. race relations and police conduct in the last year. The Jewish community active in civil rights and with a long history of black-Jewish ties reacted with outrage over Floyd’s death, one of a number of high-profile cases nationwide.
