Good morning bloggers,
A Major Winter Storm is tracking across the plains and upper midwest states today. Blizzard Warnings are in effect just north of Omaha, NE north to the USA/Canada border. While this major winter storm is in progress, we get to experience another dry cold front and storm system without a drop of rain or one snowflake. Kansas City is once again in the wrong spot for any rain or snow from yet another storm. There is a storm showing up for near the end of 2020, and I will open that discussion today. Let s begin with the current front blowing through.

Good morning bloggers,
Jeff Penner and I have been playing a game with these weather models. We are trying to make sure that if either of us gets excited about a possible storm showing up for Kansas City, then the other one has to say, nope , No way , Don t even think about it , NO . We do this because thus far in this years LRC, the cycling weather pattern, just about every chance of rain or snow ends up being almost nothing in our area. This is how KC has only 0.06 of rain so far this month. But, at the same time, places like Oklahoma City have been hit by winter storms, major winter storms, multiple times. Good morning bloggers,
With just ten days left in 2020, I think we are safe to say that there will not be a Tornado Watch issued for the Kansas City metro area. Did you know we went the entire year without one Tornado Watch issued? There were four days with Tornado Warnings around KC, but they came without a watch, and usually in the middle of the night around 2 AM. This is an incredible statistic, and the fact that we share no tornado watches in all of 2020 with much of Tornado Alley. Take a look:
Weather Blog: Jupiter, Saturn line up; a Christmas star to be visible Monday

Good morning bloggers,
Something quite fascinating is gradually happening between now and Monday night. On the first day of winter, Monday, Dec. 21 we will be able to see something that hasn t happened in around 800 years.
The two largest planets in our solar system, Jupiter and Saturn, have been creeping closer together in our evening sky. On the first night of winter, the Winter Solstice Monday, these two largest planets will line up almost perfectly to look like a bright double planet in the night sky. It still likely won t be as bright as Venus, but it will be close.
