Sixteen arrested and weapons seized in Melbourne’s south east
Last week police in Melbourne’s south east ran OMNI operations at public transport hubs in Cardinia, Casey and Greater Dandenong.
The operation ran from Thursday 7 January to Saturday 9 January where police checked more than 160 people and 20 vehicles.
OMNI operations give police additional powers to detect weapon offences within a designated search area, enhancing public safety, eliminating anti-social behaviour, and reducing crime in the process.
Sixteen people were arrested and charged for offences including firearm possession, assault, theft, drug and weapon-related offences.
A 31-year-old woman from Dandenong was arrested on six outstanding warrants for offences including burglary, theft and recklessly cause injury.
