Border Patrol Agents Stop $11 Million Worth of Meth from Entering Texas
LAREDO, TX U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers seized hard narcotics in four separate, unrelated incidents that totaled over $11,000,000 in street value.
“In an effort to secure our Nation’s borders, as these narcotics seizures clearly illustrate, CBP has implemented enforcement strategies that have furthered the disruption of dangerous drugs entering the country,” said Acting Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry.
The first enforcement action occurred on April 19th at the World Trade Bridge after CBP officers encountered a tractor manifesting a shipment of copolymer regrind arriving from Mexico. The 1995 Freightliner and shipment were referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, resulting in the discovery of 234 packages containing 360.23 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the shipment. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than $200,000 worth of cocaine at the Colombia-Solidarity International Bridge, authorities said.
On April 16, a CBP officer referred a 2005 International tractor hauling an empty trailer for a secondary examination. The tractor was driven by a 27-year-old male Mexican citizen.
K-9 and X-ray inspections resulted in the discovery of 10 packages containing 27.77 pounds of cocaine concealed within the driver’s belongings, CBP said. The contraband had an estimated street value of about $214,200.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana at the World Trade Bridge, authorities said.
The case unfolded on March 29, when CBP officers encountered a 2014 Kenworth tractor manifesting a shipment of pieces of structural metal. K-9 and X-ray inspections then revealed 1,334 packages, authorities said.
The packages contained 1,607.61 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $321,518.86, according to authorities. CBP officers seized the narcotics. Homeland Security Investigation special agents took over the case.
