In a press conference on Wednesday, Acting Premier James Merlino used strong and colourful language to describe coronavirus as he announced an extension of lockdown.
Sky News host Paul Murray says residents in regional Victoria were "sent to their room" because Acting Premier James Merlino "wants to scare people".
"Now you know and I know that regional Victoria has never had a problem in this the fourth wave of coronavirus in and around Victoria, just like it did the third time and it barely did the second time," he said.
"Yet because the police union told the police they weren't going to have a Ring of Steel and we couldn't be bothered actually trying to keep cases in the local government area. well we know there wasn't any need for [regional Victoria] to be put into lockdown.
"But thankfully, at 11:59PM tomorrow night, part of the restrictions will be removed for regional Victoria."
