Pakistan, Turkey vow to jointly raise Palestine issue at UNGA

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara on Tuesday wherein both the leaders vowed to collectively raise the Palestine issue at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.
Qureshi, who arrived in Turkish capital on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directive, on a diplomatic mission to support Palestine, resolved that Pakistan would never leave the Palestinian people alone.
From Turkey, the foreign minister will leave for New York along with Turkish, Sudanese and Palestinian foreign ministers. In New York, he will speak at the UNGA session, meet various dignitaries and hold talks with local and international media representatives and present Pakistan’s views on the situation in Palestine. ISLAMABAD: PM’s Special Aide on Interfaith Harmony and Middle East Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia has given a new impetus and dimensions to Pak-Saudi relationship.
“With the establishment of the Supreme Coordination Council between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and agreements in various fields will strengthen ties in areas of religious affairs, trade, investment, economy and finance,” he said while addressing a press conference here Tuesday.
He said the prime minister during his visit to Saudi Arabia held meetings with the leadership of Saudi Arabia, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Muslim World League (Rabit-e-Al-Alam-e-Islami) and the Imams of the Harmain Al-Sharifain. He said detailed discussions were held on the issues of Islamophobia, Namoos-e-Risalat and blasphemy with objectives to take practical steps on a permanent basis to address these problems of the Islamic world.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are likely to sign eight important agreements as Prime Minister Imran Khan leaves for a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia today on the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other members of the cabinet, the Foreign Office said on Thursday. During the visit, the prime minister’s consultations with the Saudi leadership will cover all areas of bilateral cooperation including economic, trade, investment, energy, job opportunities for Pakistani workforce, and welfare of Pakistani diaspora in the Kingdom.
