Mid Cheshire Foodbank request for shampoo this week

FOODBANKS continue to feed more people than ever due to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Mid Cheshire foodbank are this week short of several every day items at the moment and have asked for people to consider donating the following: shampoo, tinned/mash potato, toothpaste and UHT milk. A new list is posted every week of items that might be running a little low and of course, all produce, no matter how large or small are always gratefully received. It is also requested that items should be dropped off at your local supermarket while doing your own shopping.

New mayor waives allowance to fund CCTV cameras in parks

Cllr Nathan Pardoe, 30, is the youngest ever mayor to be elected in Winsford. Pomp and ceremony don’t sit comfortably with this dedicated young politician, who is both a town councillor and member of Cheshire West and Chester Council. The self-employed software engineer has waived his £3,000 mayoral allowance and donated it towards installing CCTV cameras to fight crime in the town’s parks. “I felt it was the right thing to do,” said Cllr Nathan. “I already get an allowance as a CWAC councillor. I thought it would be better to go to something special. “The council has budgeted for CCTV because of vandalism. It’s nice to add £3,000 to that pot of money.”
