Speaking in the Commons this afternoon, Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed that Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford would remain in Tier 3 measures.
But large areas of the country, including North Yorkshire, the North East and the North West, will move Tiers from tomorrow (Thursday, December 31).
What is the situation in Wakefield?
As it is confirmed that Wakefield and West Yorkshire will remain in Tier 3 over the New Year, these are all the rules that will be in place.
A total of 15,982 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the Wakefield district to date, including an additional 216 confirmed over the bank holiday weekend.
ONE new Covid-19-related hospital deaths has been reported in the Bradford district today, according to the latest NHS figures. This means the total number of reported hospital deaths in our district still stands at 635 - 450 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, 183 at Airedale and two at the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. Elsewhere in West Yorkshire, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust both reported one death, while Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust reported eight. Nationally, the deaths of 494 people, who tested positive for Covid-19, were announced, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 49,719.

Nationally, the deaths of 365 people, who tested positive for Covid-19, were announced, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 49,225.

One patients died at Bradford on Sunday, December 27, one on Friday, December 25 and three on Sunday, December 20. It means the total number of reported hospital deaths in the Bradford district, according to today’s NHS figures, now still stands at 634 - 449 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, 183 at Airedale and two at the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. Elsewhere in West Yorkshire, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust reported two deaths and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust reported three deaths. Nationally, the deaths of 318 people were announced, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 48,860. There were 35 deaths in the North East and Yorkshire.
