Piroshky Piroshky is a Russian bakery in Seattle s Pike Place Market and a beloved tourist destination.
A local favorite since it opened in 1992, the bakery became a must-visit Seattle spot after Anthony Bourdain paid them a visit on a 2007 episode of his TV show No Reservations
. The often gruff Bourdain swooned over sausage piroshki and a cup of borscht.
The bakery has begun making occasional visits to the Mid-Willamette Valley, parking its truck at an Elk s Lodge and churches, and passing out pre-ordered pastries.
What s a piroshky? How does it work?
A piroshki is an Eastern European hand pie, made by wrapping a filling, either sweet or savory, into a pocket of yeasted bread dough or pastry. Often, they resemble little pillows or torpedo shapes, tapered at each end.
