Star Wars Detours is perhaps one of the holy grails of unreleased media relating to a galaxy far, far away. The show was announced nearly a decade ago, and nearly 40 episodes are complete. Yet, it has never seen the light of day. And
Seth Green, one of the co-creators behind the animated series, has explained why that is.

Star Wars Detours got the greenlight and was an officially licensed
Star Wars animated comedy that George Lucas himself approved and consulted on. Things were looking good and fans (mostly) were eagerly awaiting its debut.
Then Disney came along. Once Disney purchased Lucasfilm
Detours was shelved. This is the part where I should mention they had 39 completed episodes in the can. Finished. All done. Paid for. Now collecting dust.
In a recent interview with
Entertainment Weekly, Green gave an update on
Detours and things don’t look good. “The most recent conversations I’ve had with anybody who would be in a position to say [
Somewhere, 39 completed, official episodes of a
Star Wars television show exist. A show George Lucas helped create. A show with Darth Vader, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and more. And yet, according to the show’s co-creator, odds are we’ll never get to see any of it.
