New Star Wars Book to Explore Adventures Surrounding Life Day
Star Wars fans were introduced to the concept of Life Day back in 1978 with the infamous
Life Day Treasury: Holiday Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away delivering a number of adventures centered around the event. The new book comes from authors Cavan Scott and George Mann and features art from Grant Griffin.
Life Day
Treasury will hit shelves on September 7th.
“When I made the original pitch for the book, [Lucasfilm Publishing creative director] Mike Siglain suggested that we bring George on board as he had already produced two wonderful books of Star Wars folklore,
"The Star Wars Holiday Special" aired in 1978 between the releases of "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back." It was shown only once because the reaction was so negative.
A Charlie Brown 2020 Christmas
It’s Christmas, and Charlie Brown is depressed about the lack of commercialism. The local merchants have closed up shop and just about the only guy making money is Jeff Bezos. Linus says, “I’ll tell you the meaning of Christmas, Charlie Brown. Come on down to the church. We’re having a pageant. And I’d like to see those freedom-hating bastards try to stop us.”
Then Charlie Brown buys a little tree which is clearly diseased, but everyone pretends it isn’t. They all bunch together and sing maskless carols and we don’t actually see what happens next. The End.

First, I should admit that I’m a sucker for a lot of holiday standards, from The Grinch and Peanuts to Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman. I adore both
White Christmas and
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, but there’s also a lot of schmaltzy, badly-written nonsense floating around out there like so much stale, crusty fruitcake this time of year…and when the usual holiday fare starts wearing thin, it’s time to mix things up a bit.
The following movies and TV specials are amazing because they find new ways of celebrating the holiday spirit, with all its weird traditions and potentially awkward moments and unmeetable expectations. It’s not about irony or snark or subversion it’s about making your own odd, goofy, wonderful kind of holiday cheer, wherever you can find it…
