The UN, its humanitarian partners and the Malian Government launched yesterday the 2021 Humanitarian Response Plan for Mali, seeking US$563 million to assist 4.7 million people in immediate need. That is 1.1 million people more than last year.
The plan aims to save lives, offer protection to those affected by the crisis, and strengthen their resilience.
The Humanitarian Coordinator for Mali, Mbaranga Gasarabwe, urged the relevant parties to address the needs of affected communities adequately. She stressed the importance of increasing funding and having timely financial contributions to assist populations in need and strengthen their resilience to shocks.
