The Monroe County Museum will host displays and demonstrations on the history and methods of maple sugar making.
The demonstrations are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday in March, weather permitting, at River Raisin Territorial Park, 3815 N. Custer Road. This is the site of the Navarre-Anderson Trading Post.
Native Americans taught European settlers how to harvest and process maple sap into sugar; and for generations afterward, maple sugar was a farmer s first crop of the season.
In accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines, all buildings at Territorial Park will remain closed. Visitors are asked to observe social distancing guidelines and safe practices.
