Homes retrofitted under revised Government programme will be warmer, easier to heat and more comfortable – Cummins 18th February 2021 - Senator John Cummins The Government’s revised and enhanced Energy Efficiency Retrofitting Programme for Social Housing will benefit householders in many ways, a Fine Gael Senator has said. Seanad spokesperson on Housing, Waterford Senator John Cummins, said: “Homes retrofitted under this scheme will be warmer, easier to heat and more comfortable. “It will enhance air quality in the home and for those currently using oil or gas they will see savings on energy bills. “Some €1,303,949 has been allocated to Waterford City and county with a target delivery of 48 units to be delivered.

Dublin West Senator Emer Currie led a Private Members Motion that was passed last evening in Seanad Eireann in support of the National Remote Work Strategy, to build on its framework for long-term change and benefit individual workers and those with families. Ban on naming of dead children has had a profound negative impact – Justice Minister Helen McEntee

JUSTICE Minister Helen McEntee says there has been a “profound negative impact” as a result of a court ban on the naming of dead children who are the victims of crime. Legislation to roll back the law preventing the naming of a dead child in court cases has been introduced in the Seanad, and is being supported by the Government. A judgement in the Court of Appeal last year led to a situation where a deceased child victim may be named until a person is charged with their murder or killing through manslaughter, but not thereafter. Minister McEntee said families had felt unable to honour their children or their legacies.
