The Western New York Land Conservancy and the Friends of the College Lodge Forest are pleased to announce that the community has matched the challenge gift and reached their fundraising goal to save the College Lodge Forest. Located near Fredonia, this spectacular forest has long been a cherished community gathering place in Chautauqua County. Once purchased,it will be permanently protected.
During the past few years, the Land Conservancy and the Friends of the College Lodge Forest carried out an ambitious fundraising campaign to protect the property. Purchased in 1939 by SUNY Fredonia students, with their own funds, for the main objective of promoting health outdoors, the land has been a prized learning laboratory for thousands of teachers, researchers, students, and the entire community ever since. WASHINGTON, D. C. - Toledo Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur has ordered more than 400 copies of the December issue of National Geographic magazine to distribute to every one of her U.S. House of Representatives colleagues. The cover features an article titled “Saving the Great Lakes,” which also is the subject of much of Kaptur’s legislative agenda for 2021.

With a difficult year now drawn to a close, there are many reasons to be hopeful that 2021 will be brighter. The rollout of coronavirus vaccines across the country means there is a light at the end of the tunnel in tackling this pandemic. And right before the new year, Congress passed a bipartisan relief package that included much-needed help for American families, workers, and businesses as well as funding to get vaccines out faster.

With a new Congress ahead, I find myself reflecting on my first term and looking forward to my second.
