A SOCIAL enterprise in Bolton has been shortlisted for two awards this year. Entrepreneurs Unlocked, founded in 2019, engages with individuals in custody and the community and provides a range of programmes to nurture their talent to enable them to live a crime-free future. The firm is a finalist in the Entrepreneur For Good Award at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards and is one of six finalists from a record-breaking 4,800 entries that were received. Entrepreneurs Unlocked has also been shortlisted in the Community and Social Responsibility category at the Greater Manchester Business Awards. The awards acknowledge the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the UK - with previous winners including The LAD Bible and The Cambridge Satchel Company.

But the small business, which was shortlisted for the Great British Entrepreneur Awards this week, isn’t just about recycling material.
The fast-fashion-fighting couple also host online courses teaching children and adults to sew and mend their own clothes in an effort to limit textile waste.
“In this country, our relationship with clothing is completely broken,” says Elizaveta, who grew up in post-Soviet Russia where she spent her upbringing making her own clothes.
“At Arkdefo we want to rebuild the connection that people should have with clothes and bring back the craft of sewing that seems to be lost.
