Majority of Ireland s 1,400 air pollution deaths caused by burning smoky fuels The Irish Heart Foundation and Asthma Society of Ireland are calling on the Government to incentivise householders to move away from fuels including peat and wet wood While Irish people are aware of the danger of toxic fumes from transport and industry, only 10% are aware of the peril in their own homes  the serious health risks caused by burning smoky fuels.
