While there, he recognized Officer Chas Cypher for his work with youth in the city.
Officer Cypher takes unclaimed bikes the department has collected to Hope Cyclery to make sure they are in good working condition.
He then distributes them among children.
Officer Cypher started the project last spring and has already handed out dozens of bicycles.
Officer Cypher says he puts the kids on a list and if they get good grades and help out in the community, they’re the first ones to receive a bike.
