Primghar, IA (KICD)– Local authorities, volunteers and animal rescue personnel spent some time earlier this month rescuing more than two dozen dogs from a property in O’Brien County.
Sheriff Bruce Devereaux says the effort was conducted on January 13th after the property’s resident died leaving no one to care for 39 dogs, seven of which were found dead.
After consulting a local veterinarian, Devereaux says nine additional animals were put down because of their poor condition. The remaining 23 dogs were taken to Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue in Sioux City were they will stay until they find a suitable home.
