Foxwoods Resort Casino is continuing to roll back pandemic-related restrictions this month, as an increasing number of people receive COVID-19 vaccinations.
Guests may play all slot machines, and the casino will slowly lift capacity restrictions on table games, restaurants, theaters and retail shops, Foxwoods announced. The casino will still require mask-wearing throughout the property, and will continue advanced cleaning of high-touch areas.
“With the exception of face masks, all protocols will be lifted by or before May 19, aligning with Connecticut’s plans, Foxwoods President and CEO Jason Guyot said. We will closely monitor our approach but are ready to introduce a safe and more relaxed ‘next normal’ environment for our guests and team members ahead of summer.”
RI Supreme Court upholds pension benefits for innocent spouse of convicted URI teller
PROVIDENCE The state Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a ruling awarding pension benefits to the innocent spouse of a former University of Rhode Island teller convicted of embezzling tuition money.
The court, however, overturned a requirement that a portion of the payments go toward paying her husband s restitution obligations.
The ruling, written by Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg, overturned, in part, a 2016 decision by Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Lanphear awarding pension benefits to Diane Randall, the wife of longtime state employee Fred L. Randall, who admitted to embezzling $200,000 in tuition payments from URI from 2004 until 2011 to fuel his gambling addiction.

In 2013, former Fall River mayor Jasiel F. Correia II and two partners opened a bank account for their new startup, SnoOwl, and deposited a $50,000 check from a Fall River orthodontist, the first investor in the smartphone app company, court records show.
A month later, Correia bought a 2011 Mercedes-Benz after withdrawing $10,000 in cash from SnoOwlâs account at Citizens Bank and depositing it into his personal account, IRS Special Agent Sandra Lemanski told jurors Friday during the fifth day of testimony in Correiaâs federal corruption trial in Boston.
