With overdoses rising in Regina, advocates and police are anxiously awaiting the opening of a federally funded overdose prevention site in the city.
Elizabeth Popowich, a spokeswoman for the Regina Police Service, said that last Saturday, officers responded to calls at three different addresses. In each case, they found someone dead of an apparent drug overdose.
There was a similar occurrence Monday, Popowich said. The four people who died were all men ages 26, 28, 45 and 55, she said.

Saskatoon s Prairie Harm Reduction issued a warning from its social media channels this week about a type of Xanax pill that could be laced with fentanyl.

Education and resources were the messages Monday evening from local officials regarding fentanyl use by youth in the community.
Officials with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, the Brockville police and both local English-speaking school boards spoke for an hour about the ongoing public health crisis in the area.

In the first half of the forum, officials spoke about the struggles facing youth in the area and what can be done to combat the crisis. The second half of the forum was a Q&A for attendees to ask wide-ranging questions.
