Harmony Elementary School in Milton speech language pathologist Anna Miller is named a 2022 Wisconsin Teacher of the Year.
During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Miller created and donated more than 250 facemasks for those in her community. She also created an innovative play-based preschool speech program for 3-year-olds.
The 2022 Wisconsin Teachers of the Year are among the 101 educators recognized earlier this year by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation’s Teacher Fellowship Program, which honors and supports teaching excellence and innovation across Wisconsin.
JANESVILLE
Monday was âI Love Mrs. Miller Dayâ as Anna Miller, a speech and language pathologist at Harmony Elementary School, was recognized as one of the stateâs Teachers of the Year.
Congratulations were expressed through signs inside and outside the school and with personal notes, virtual hugs, a brief â80s music dance party and a few treats in the teachersâ lounge.
Miller and others in the Milton School District learned Friday she is one of five public school teachers to earn the designation.
For Miller, the announcement was unexpected but exciting.
âItâs a huge honor,â she said.
Shortly after hearing the news, she posted this on social media: âIt feels SO undeserved because itâs our teams that make us our best, but Iâll sure do whatever I can to live up to such an honor. I work with some pretty amazing people who do incredible things for kids every day!â

MILTON
A pair of educators in the Milton School District have received one of the top honors in Wisconsin education.
Anna Miller, a speech and language pathologist at Harmony Elementary School, and Jessica Fetting, a Milton Middle School English teacher, were named recipients of 2021 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowships. Each will receive $6,000 to better their classrooms and themselves professionally.
They are among 317 Wisconsin students, teachers and principals who received awards from the foundation this year.
The teacher recipients were recognized for their âsuperior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students and ability to motivate others, and for their leadership and service within and outside the classroom,â the foundation website reads.
