KNOX COUNTY — Knox County Jailer Mary Hammons announced that the county’s detention center has incorporated hospital-grade UV-C light technology into its disinfection protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A Gray duo was arrested Friday in connection with an attempted break-in at Central Christian Academy in Gray overnight Thursday.
Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Scotty Wilson and Deputy Jesse Smith arrested Cody W. Hutton, 30, and Kateln Storms, 22, following a traffic stop in the school parking lot.
Deputy William Stewart, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that a school employee had noticed a suspicious vehicle parked next to a dumpster.
“He had scared them off,” Stewart said of the employee noting that the vehicle returned later Friday morning.
However, Stewart stated that deputies were still on the scene when they observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle stop across the road.

GRAY â Two were arrested Friday night for attempted burglary at Central Christian Academy in Gray, after a school official noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot and a window from the school building had been removed.
Cody W. Hutton, 30, of Gray and Kateln Storms, age 22, of Gray were arrested for third-degree attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hutton was also charged with operating on a suspended or revoked operator s license.
At approximately 9 p.m. Friday, Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith was contacted by the school official of an attempted burglary at the Central Christian Academy in Gray. Deputies Scotty Wilson and Jesse Smith were notified and responded to the academy.
