Johannesburg - Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo jokingly described Transnet's former Chief Financial Officer Anoj Singh as "Mr Cash" following his testimony at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture on Thursday.
Zondo said he found it "very peculiar" that Singh's driver testified that he would allegedly fetch suitcases of cash from the Guptas and deposit it into safety deposit boxes, use only cash to pay for his travel agent and again use only cash to settle his hotel bills that sometimes amounted to over R60 000.

Johannesburg - The judicial commission of inquiry into state capture will on Friday morning hear whether former Transnet chief financial officer Anoj Singh's legal team will make a submission to have some of his evidence heard behind closed doors.
Singh, who is expected to continue fielding questions on his movements and time during his tenure at Transnet, will return to the commission on Friday.
When evidence leader Advocate Anton Myburgh attempted to deal with Singh's personal bank accounts on Thursday, Singh's legal team objected.
They said they intended on making submissions to the commission to have the questioning on his private bank accounts held in-camera.

Johannesburg - Former Transnet chief financial officer (CFO) Anoj Singh stumbled and fumbled over a line of questioning that related to his eight safety deposit boxes, and his frequent trips to Dubai.
Singh is currently giving evidence at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into State Capture in Johannesburg.
Evidence-leader advocate Anton Myburgh has been going over some of Singh's previous evidence, where he admitted to having four safety deposit boxes, at the Knox Vault in Killarney. Singh previously told the commission that he used these boxes to store personal documents for his family, jewellery for his wife, and cash he accumulated through moonlighting while at Transnet.

Testifying at the State Capture Commission on Thursday, former Transnet and Eskom CFO Anoj Singh questioned the authenticity of invoices revealed in the #GuptaLeaks that suggested the Gupta family paid for his frequent visits to Dubai.
Singh took multiple trips to Dubai in 2014 and 2015, only one of which he claimed related to his work at Transnet. In previous testimony, Singh denied claims that Gupta associate Salim Essa organised and paid for some of his travels or that he knew he shared flights with members of the Gupta family and their associates.

Former Transnet CFO Anoj Singh appeared to get emotional at the state capture inquiry 10 minutes before the lunch break on Friday.
Singh was being grilled on the testimony of “witness 3”, who claimed to have seen him visiting the Gupta family residence and the Knox Vaults.
Singh said the evidence from this witness was total fabrication as he had never driven Singh to the Gupta compound. He also denied ever receiving large sums of money from the Guptas.
His former driver and protector had also testified that Singh, during a Transnet strategy session at Three Rivers Lodge, had received a bag with money from Chinese men.

He believes someone at the commission may have fed information to a witness, who then implicated him in corrupt dealings.
Singh appeared at the commission on Friday to respond to allegations related to his time at Transnet.
He was questioned extensively about the testimony of his former driver, who was referred to as ‘Witness 3’ by the commission.
The witness told the commission that he used to frequently drive Singh to the Gupta residence where he would leave with a bag full of money. He said on one occasion Singh offered to buy him lunch and asked him to get the money from the bag in a boot, that is where he claimed he saw lots of R200 notes.
