NASA's Perseverance rover fails in first attempt to collect rock samples on Mars - The Perseverance mission is assembling a response team to analyse the data and to ascertain when to schedule the next sample collection attempt.
NASA Insight lander reveals Mars deep interiors for 1st time
Before NASA s InSight spacecraft touched down on Mars in 2018, the rovers and orbiters studying the Red Planet concentrated on its surface

Washington: NASA s Insight lander has revealed deep interiors of the Red Planet for the first time, confirming that the planet s centre is molten (Earth s outer core is molten while its inner core is solid).
Three papers based on the seismometer s data on stationary lander were published in the journal Science, providing details on the depth and composition of Mars crust, mantle and core.
The scientists found the crust was thinner than expected and may have two or even three sub-layers. It goes as deep as 20 kms if there are two sub-layers, or 37 kms if there are three.
Most clouds on the Red planet hover at about 37 miles (60 kilometres) or lower in the sky, and are composed of water ice. The latest capture by Curiosity shows the clouds at a higher altitude, where it is very cold.

WASHINGTON: As a kid growing up in southern India in the 1960s, young Balaram was fascinated by rockets and cosmic beauty. When his uncle wrote to the US Consulate, asking for information about Nasa and space exploration, they sent back a bulging envelope stuffed with glossy booklets, entrancing the lad.
His interest in space was piqued further by listening to the Moon landing on the radio. I gobbled it up, he told Nasa s in-house journal many years later. Long before the internet, the US had good outreach. You had my eyeballs.
NASA Ingenuity helicopter touches down on Mars
Flying in a controlled manner on Mars is far more difficult than flying on Earth

Washington: NASA s Mars helicopter Ingenuity has been dropped on the surface of the Red Planet ahead of its historic first flight scheduled for April 11.
Ingenuity flew to Mars while being attached to the belly of NASA s Perseverance rover, which made a #MarsHelicopter touchdown confirmed! Its 293 million mile (471 million km) journey aboard @NASAPersevere ended with the final drop of 4 inches (10 cm) from the rover s belly to the surface of Mars today, NASA s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, tweeted late on Saturday.
