Linden Tree Coffeehouse to host virtual folk concert
COURTESY OF LINDEN TREE COFFEEHOUSE
The Linden Tree Coffeehouse of Wakefield and The Ivy Chord Coffeehouse of Reading will host a livestreaming concert with Reggie Harris and Pat Wictor on June 5.
Both have been audience favorites who had planned to return to Wakefield live this season before COVID-19. Links to the live program will be posted on Linden Tree s Facebook and web pages. This is the final show of Linden Tree Coffeehouse’s 36th season of acoustic music concerts.
“Well, it’s a plague on the nation/It’s all across the news/Splashed up in color for all the world to see.” Those are the opening lines Harris sings on his new album “On Solid Ground.” A veteran folk musician (recently the recipient of Folk Alliance International’s 2021 Spirit of Folk Award), Harris has sung songs like this his entire career, but the current political and social climate is drawing his personal voice out and into the present.
The Vernon Area Library, 300 Olde Half Day Road, Lincolnshire, will present a special, free outdoor concert, "The American Folk Song," with singer songwriter, storyteller and banjo player Mark Dvorak at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 24.
