ONE of the district’s leading clergymen is preparing to travel west along Hadrian’s Wall to take up a new post in Carlisle. The Rev. Dr. Benjamin Carter, Vicar of Haydon Bridge and Beltingham with Henshaw, has been appointed Canon Warden at Carlisle Cathedral. Dr Carter, who has also served as assistant archdeacon within the Diocese of Newcastle, will be installed in the coming weeks. He will lead on the arts and cultural outreach at the cathedral, which has recently undergone a substantial refurbishment.
