Charlemont man denies robbing bank in Northampton Northampton police respond to a report of a bank robbery at People’s United Bank on King Street in Northampton late Thursday morning. NORTHAMPTON POLICE DEPARTMENT Published: 2/26/2021 3:18:57 PM NORTHAMPTON A Charlemont man suspected of robbing a King Street bank in broad daylight Thursday was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to a charge of armed and masked robbery on Friday morning.  In a teleconference, Northampton District Court Judge Maureen Walsh ordered David W. Jones Jr., 38, held without the right to bail in advance of a dangerous hearing scheduled for March 3.  Jones is accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the People’s United Bank on King Street late Thursday morning, then fleeing the scene in a pick-up truck.

Brooke A. Wallis agreed to do 30 hours of community service as part of being placed on pretrial probation for four months on a charge of disorderly conduct, said Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office. The disposition of the case came in a Zoom hearing before Northampton District Court Judge Maureen Walsh on Wednesday.
