A Norfolk man with “the magic touch” who worked for Lotus for over 20 years has died.
Tributes have poured in for John Mountain from Hethersett whose nickname was “Magic” because of his ability to take virtually anything apart and put it together again.
John, who was 65, died suddenly in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on February 16.
John Mountain worked for Lotus and was involved in designing audio systems with Blaupunkt, electrical systems for General Motors in Detroit and working on the Delorean sports car in Belfast amongst other projects.
“What is so special about a festival? he asks. There s something about the moment when a city or region comes alive, and that expectant feeling of gathering and experiencing something different together.”
Mr Brine took his post as Norfolk & Norwich Festival director in 2018, which means that much of his time in charge has been dominated by pandemic planning. This year’s flexible festival builds on his experiences from last May, as he was forced to rapidly reimagine the programme.
With its scheduled performances unable to go ahead during lockdown, the festival quickly adapted one of its 2020 shows: Hunt and Darton’s Radio Local. The duo of artists turned what was originally going to be a day-long project in the streets of Norwich into something totally different – a daily broadcast throughout the usual festival period, chatting to the performers whose shows had been cancelled, and bringing together local people who were isolated.
Diss and Long Stratton leisure centre staff scrub-up to volunteer at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to help with Covid battle

Staff at Diss and Long Stratton leisure centres have joined the front line in the battle against coronavirus by volunteering at a nearby hospital.
In a big departure from personal training and Zumba classes, the staff have been redeployed to vaccination wards at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to help support the Governmentâs efforts to vaccinate a nation.
Around 20 fitness instructors, lifeguards, receptionists and other staff have found themselves working 40-hour weeks at the hospital, ushering around patients as they receive their jab.
Oarton turned up at her address, banging on the door, before barging his way into her home.
He tried to snatch the phone and made threats, stating it would be “the last thing she would do”.
He also made threats to her with a knife - although he did not actually have one.
He grabbed her and twice, spat at her and prevented her from calling the police or escaping.
On another occasion, on October 17 last year he banged at her door and accused her of having been with someone else and warned her he would find her and slice her face up.
