TRADING UPDATES: Block Energy 2020 revenue jumps; Kanabo loss narrows

Block Energy PLC - development and production company focused on Georgia - Reports revenue for 2020 of USD1.3 million compared to USD310,000 the year ago, resulting in pretax loss of USD5.5 million versus USD6.1 million in 2019. Block Energy says production of oil and gas from the two horizontal wells in its West Rustavi licence area was suspended in April 2020 to avoid selling oil at low prices. Despite that, the company says it sold 34,421 barrels, up from 5,210 barrels the year prior. Meanwhile, on February 15, the company says it has achieved its first gas sales.

Wentworth Resources PLC - Tanzania-focused natural gas producer - Revenue for 2020 rises 1.9% to USD19.0 million from USD18.6 million in 2019, while pretax profit surges to USD2.2 million from USD987,000. Profit growth outstrips revenue increase as cost of sales falls 7.1% to GBP9.4 million. Says performance was "strong and resilient" against challenging backdrop. Declares dividend of 1.0 pence per share, bringing total dividend for year to 1.5p, up 27% on 2019. Adds that it has seen a record first quarter performance to date, with average production volumes for the first quarter of 2021 84.7 million standard cubic feet per day per day versus 63.6 million a year ago.

In a surprise move, Lethbridge Police Commission chair Simon Griffiths has resigned from all his duties on the commission. “I have committed half a decade to serving on the Lethbridge Police Commission and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time,” Griffiths said in a statement released to the media on Tuesday. “I have had the opportunity to meet many of the dedicated LPS members and staff who come to work each day and perform their jobs to the highest professional and ethical standards. The residents of Lethbridge should be very proud of the police service they have protecting their safety and well-being each day.”
