Morrow County Hospital receives 5-star rating for quality

MOUNT GILEAD Morrow County Hospital was one of only 35 hospitals in Ohio that received a 5-star rating from CMS (The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) based on 37 measures of performance in five categories that include mortality, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience and timely/effective care.
Hospitals report data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services through the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Program, Hospital Readmission Reduction Program, Hospital-Acquired Condition Reduction Program, and Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program. Overall star ratings aren’t calculated for Veterans Health Administration or Department of Defense hospitals.
Healthcare advisory group hears former exec

MOUNT GILEAD The Morrow County Healthcare Initiative Citizens Group (MC-HIC) heard about healthcare in Williams County, Ohio, and shared their concerns about healthcare and the hospital with Phil Ennen at their May 4 meeting.
HIC Chairman Jennifer Williams brought this nationally respected expert in healthcare to Morrow County to share his experience with the group. Ennen is the subject of the book, “The Hospital,” that was released this year.
Ennen was COO and then CEO for 32 years at Bryan Hospital in Williams County. He is presently serving on Ohio’s Pandemic Response Team. He spoke first about how healthcare and hospital business has become extremely complicated since the 1980s and 90s.
Miller receives community award for commitment to local healthcare

MOUNT GILEAD CJ Miller, president and CEO of Morrow County Hospital and resident of Marengo, was recently acknowledged by his peers and community leaders with an award recognizing his commitment to local healthcare as well as a proclamation commending him on the hospital’s assistance with the COVID-19 pandemic in the community.
Deanna Brant, executive director of Delaware/Morrow County Mental Health & Recovery Services, presented the award with an inscription that read, “Leadership Vision Integrity – In recognition and appreciation of your insight, your thoughtful guidance and continued quest for excellence.”
Morrow County Hospital expands visitation policy

MOUNT GILEAD Morrow County Hospital has announced that effective Tuesday, April 27, it will allow two visitors each day for inpatient department patients only. Those visitors will be designated and be able to leave the patient room or hospital and come back into the building. Visitors must be 18 years or older.
All visitors will be required to wear a mask while in the facility, except while eating, and must be asymptomatic of COVID-19 symptoms.
The following exceptions will be made for patients in unique medical situations:
• Isolation/COVID patients will continue to follow the exemption policy that is currently in place of no visitors, except in end-of-life situations.
Health advisory group reviews citizen survey

MOUNT GILEAD The Morrow County Healthcare Initiative advisory group (MC-HIC) reviewed 252 survey responses that were returned by Morrow County residents.
The advisory group released the survey the last week of March and looked at the responses at their April 12 meeting. Several healthcare needs in Morrow County stood out in answers from the 10 questions in the survey.
Top concerns
Access to specialists was the number one concern in three questions in the survey.
Need for more access to specialists was also named in what healthcare needs should be addressed in the next five years in Morrow County.
