East Nashville building near brewery sells for $1 4

Located at 1520 Porter Road, the building accommodates Save A Trip Market & Laundry, a convenience store, laundromat and fuel station. The new owner is a general partnership, details about which the Post was unable to determine. The seller was William Shaar, owner of Brentwood-based Realty of America. He had paid $481,500 for the property in April 2015, according to Metro records. The building offers 4,800 square feet. As such, the deal is the equivalent of about $292 per foot based on the structure’s size. James Moore, owner of Nashville-based Blue Iris Real Estate, facilitated the transaction. Of note, veteran local real estate investor Jim Crossman once owned the property, having paid $27,500 for it in 1975, Metro records show.

Sushi restaurant planned for east side

Located at 97 Chapel Ave., the property sits on the same side of the street and next door to Rosepepper Cantina and is located in a commercial node some refer to as Walden. It is sandwiched by Eastwood and Lockeland Springs. The new owner is Yun Choo, who owns Samurai Sushi on Elliston Place in Midtown. He could not be reached for comment, but a source who asked to go unnamed confirmed the transaction and that Choo plans a business that will take décor and menu cues from Las Vegas sushi restaurants. According to a Davidson County Register of Deeds document, the sellers were Yvette Thomas and Guillermo “Willy” Thomas, who paid $390,000 for the property in mid-2006, according to Metro records. The Thomases also owned and operated Eastland Café, which closed Jan. 23 after a roughly 14-year run. Previously, Chapel Bistro operated from the space, having opened in the early 2000s.
