NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Nashville Mayor John Cooper has presented his budget proposal for next year, and now the next steps are in Metro Council s hands.
Mayor Cooper delivered his second State of Metro address on Thursday, where he highlighted his budget and policy priorities for the next fiscal year. Friday, Metro finance heard more details of his budget after he officially filed the budget.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Nashville Mayor John Cooper gave his second State of Metro address Thursday morning as the city works to rebound from last yearâs tornadoes, the COVID-19 pandemic and the Christmas Day bombing.

Metroâs largest employee pay plan, with $30.4 million investment
$37.5 million investment in affordable housing
Infrastructure improvements in North Nashville
Calling last yearâs budget a âcrisis,â Cooper said this year Metro has an âinvestmentâ budget with plans to boost funding for Metro Schools, affordable housing, transporation and invest in Nashville neighborhoods.
âAs long as we make these investments, Nashvilleâs future is bright. And weâll re-emerge as a city that works and works for everyone,â Cooper said.

Nashville Mayor John Cooper is set to deliver his second State of Metro address today.
Cooper will deliver the remarks at an event that begins at 10:30 a.m. at Music City Center.
The State of Metro is used by mayors to outline their vision for the city and propose an operating budget for the coming fiscal year.
Last year s address was held a month earlier than typical, due to an expedited budget schedule. Plus, it came during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cooper gave his remarks in front of a camera inside a near-empty council chambers as residents watched from their homes.
