Police have arrested 1,740 people so far for violating quarantine rules, including not wearing face masks and not adhering to social distancing rules. Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 35 persons who were not wearing masks and breached social distancing rules were arrested during the 24 hours ending at 6.00 am yesterday (24).
Avissawella, Kosgama and Ruwanwella police division declared as isolated areas with immediate effect, stated the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said.
Police Media Spokesperson Ajith Rohana said that, 35 persons were arrested for not wearing face masks and failing to maintain social distancing during the last 24-hours. The DIG stated that 1740 suspects have been arrested since October 30 for not wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing in public areas.
