International women s day 2021 and the pub sector

How did Great British Pub Award winners spend their £10,000 grants?

A heartfelt thank you : So many pubs have shown remarkable compassion and resilience since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak – that’s why we’re so keen to support them, Paul Robertson, head of on-premise at Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) GB said After being crowned Pub Heroes in September, The Morning Advertiser revisited a trio of operators who received grants from Coca-Cola’s Community Pub Fund to find out how they had used their five-figure spur. Following a public vote involving more than 65,000 people, each of the 15 winners from the Great British Pub Awards – Pub Heroes in September was invited to apply for grant funding from Coca-Cola.

How much money do pubs need to get through lockdown?

The owner of a pub which also boasts a zoo on-site has slammed the Government for not doing more to help the sector and said his business “wouldn’t be here” without its regulars. The Fenn Bell Inn, in Medway, Kent, has received £60,000 in community donations to stay afloat – more than double it has received in Government grants (£25,000). Pubgoers have raised money through crowdfunding pages and taken part in fundraising activities, from fancy dress events to running challenges. The pub has also received donations of food and equipment for the upkeep of the animals on-site. Operator Andy Cowell said without introducing further financial support the Government was set to crush and destroy an entire trade.

How White Room Studio Has Carved its Own Niche in Singapore s Portrait Photography Scene

Tell us about working with your brother Dan. EL Setting up White Room Studio with Dan has been a dream come true. He is a complete artist at heart. He’s a great listener, and he gets personal insights into every single client before he even picks up the camera. That contributes greatly to the unique experience our studio delivers. We realised early on that we have to be open-minded in listening to the stories of people from different walks of life, and being open to ideas, while also bringing in our own creative thinking: this is all combined such that we can deliver the kind of imagery that appeals to our clients. This shared understanding is the basis of White Room Studio: to listen and understand, and to be a friend. To be able to capture the essence of our clients’ personalities, and touch their inner souls through the use of light and shadow.

How are pubs helping communities in third lockdown?

Pubs have stepped up to help their communities amid a tough third lockdown in England. South west London pub the Hunter’s Moon has lent the venue’s kitchen and team of chefs to support an initiative to provide meals for key workers and the vulnerable.  The Chelsea pub has offered its services to Family Meal, a charity which provides food to NHS staff, essential workers and disadvantaged members of society. Chef director Oliver Marlowe and director Hubert Beatson-Hird are prepared for the pub to provide more than 1,000 meals a day to those in need. No brainer Beatson Hird said: “When we were approached by Family Meal to provide the Hunter’s Moon as its base for this lockdown, it was a no brainer for us. While we can’t welcome customers in, the least we can do is support the NHS and the disadvantaged, and this is our way of giving a little back. It’s great to have Oliver back in the kitchen with his team and to be supporting the incredible
