Flint High School staff and students charitable acts help community this Christmas

Year 7 students at Flint High School, Fabian Acosta, Dainton Crimes, Daisy and Eva Crane, with some of the food items donated from students, families, and school staff. Staff and students at Flint High School have been busy raising money and appealing for food donations to help bring a little festive cheer for those most in need. After the school s appeal in November for food donations to help struggling families, students and their families were quick to help and hundreds of items soon poured in. Angie Chatfield, learning manager Year 8, and Val Hands, the school s Inclusion Welfare Officer, coordinated the appeal.

Staff from the English department at a Flintshire high school who have been running a motivational programme have presented a group of Year 11 students with awards to celebrate their excellent progress this term. Jemma Defries, head of English at Flint High School, set up the programme to help encourage students at this vital point in their education. She said: We wanted to reward effort and attitude to learning as this has been such a tough year and continues to be difficult for our GCSE groups.
