Nicole Madden, the only female chief in Bucks, named Tinicum s top cop
Nicole Madden no longer has the word acting, in front of her title.
Earlier this month, Madden became Tinicum s police chief, making her the only woman in county law enforcement currently holding that title.
“It’s exciting, it really is,” she said.
Madden, a 12-year member of the department, had been acting chief with the township police department since July, when former chief Matthew Phelan left to head Bedminster s police force.
On Dec. 1, township supervisors voted to officially make her the chief, according to township manager Teri Lewis. Madden s swearing-in ceremony, conducted by District Judge Gary Gambardella, took place on Dec. 15.
