Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says chief of All India United Democratic Front wants to become CM Perfume baron Badruddin Ajmal appears to be the flavour of the poll season for rival Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In campaign after campaign, the saffron party has attacked Mr. Ajmal, president of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and a Lok Sabha member. The AIUDF is a constituent of the 10-party Mahajot or grand alliance headed by the Congress in Assam.
Campaigning for his party candidate in Barhampur on Wednesday, the State’s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma devoted much of his speech to the AIUDF chief.

GUWAHATI: In what can be called as dexterity in defusing rebellion, the BJP-AGP combine has been able to calm their respective rebel candidates in the Assembly election. The Congress, on the contrary, is still grappling with rebellion.
A few Congress stalwarts like former minister Ardhendu Dey, Gautam Dhanowar and a few others have quit the Congress and some of them are bent on fighting this Assembly election as independent candidates against official Congress candidates.
The situation was same for the BJP as well when its Hojai MLA Shiladitya Deb quit the party and decided to fight the election as an independent candidate as the party denied him ticket. However, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and MP Dillip Saikia rushed to Shiladitya s Hojai residence on Friday to calm him. Now Shiladitya Deb has decided to work for the party. Sarma has told the Hojai MLA that the BJP needs him and will keep him with the right position .

Earlier this week, a video which was later found to be doctored, went viral showing Ajmal as saying that India will become an Islamic nation .
The doctored video was shared by BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje, Assam BJP leader Pijush Hazarika, columnist Ratan Sharda, actor Paresh Rawal, journalists Deepak Chaurasia, Ashok Shrivastav, and Astha Kaushik, among others.
