Southbury will host the 2021 Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 31. Our Parade will kick off 11 AM sharp starting at the Pomperaug Office Park, located across from CVS, Depot Hill Road.
The Parade will continue down Main Street South and end at the Veterans Memorial Park, which is located between the Town Hall and the Senior Center/Park and Recreation Office. Our Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at that time. Our 2021 keynote address speaker is Dan Ettinger, Commander, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 1. We ask you to give him a warm welcome.

ROCKLAND Rockland American Legion Post 1 will be conducting a Memorial Day Ceremony in Rockland on Monday, May 31, 2021. The ceremony will be held in the park at the corner of Park and Main streets in the shadow of the giant flag pole of the Civil War monument.
Leading up to the 10 a.m. ceremony, Marlene Hall s Bay Winds North music ensemble will be playing appropriate musical selections commencing at 09:45. They will also be providing music during the ceremony, including a very moving version of

While many look forward to Memorial Day weekend as a break and a way to kick off the summer season, the Oneida County Veterans Service Office hopes you’ll take time to remember why you have the day off.
“It’s not a ‘happy Memorial Day’ holiday. So many people say those words. It has nothing to do with those of us veterans who are still alive,” said Tammy Javenkoski, the Oneida County Veterans Service Officer.
She said she’s always surprised how many people don’t understand the meaning of Memorial Day.
“We are honoring the men and women that sacrificed their lives and if people don’t know that I really encourage them to attend a ceremony,” said Javenkoski.

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Tuesday, the City of Portage announced that the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5855 has canceled the annual Portage Memorial Day Parade.
However, the Memorial Day Ceremony sponsored by the American Legion Post 207 will still take place at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park.
Gary VerMeulen, who coordinates the Memorial Day Parade for the VFW Post 5855, released the following statement:
“We believe the cancelation of the Memorial Day Parade again this year is the right thing to do. Our members look forward to coming together on Memorial Day in 2022 to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.”
