Finishing up her workday at home on Feb. 10, Ashlee Lacey Garcia was waiting for her husband, Michael, to get home from St. Rose of Lima Catholic School with their 10-year-old son, Xander. Then her husband called from an ambulance as he and Xander were both being taken to the emergency room. Michael Garcia was driving near the 300 block of North Loop West, between North Shepherd Drive and Yale Street, just before 3:30 p.m. that day when he attempted to pass another driver but was cut off. According to police, the other driver pulled in front of Garcia’s SUV and suddenly braked before pulling out a gun and firing toward Garcia and his son, who was a passenger. Both were shot.

$1M suit alleges Memorial Herman worker injured while transferring patient

HOUSTON A former Memorial Hermann Greater Heights employee claims the hospital s negligence led her to suffer a severe injury while trying to transfer a patient to a wheelchair.  Sarah Gonzalez filed a complaint March 3 in Harris County District Court against Memorial Hermann Health System doing business as Memorial Hermann Greater Heights alleging negligence. According to her complaint, Gonzalez was employed by Memorial Hermann Greater Heights on May 5, 2019, when she suffered injuries while transferring a patient to a wheelchair. She alleges that Memorial Hermann Greater Heights is negligence for failing to properly instruct and provide training to its employees.  Gonzalez also claims the hospital was negligent for not providing her with adequate assistance, maintaining a safe workplace and for failing to supervise its employees. She further claims she has suffered severe pain, mental anguish, physical impairment and other medical issues as well as incurred medical expen
