  The Minister for Justice and Attorney General-designate, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has stated that the Government, through the Ministry of Justice and Attorney put the interest of the state first and not the interests of any individual, organization, or group of persons when putting together the Agyapa Royalties transaction. According to him, there are no vitiating factors about the transaction and argued that the Finance Minister, his Deputy and promoters of Agyapa were unfairly criticized in the controversial report of the Special Prosecutor.   He assured that the transaction, intended to monetize some of Ghana’s gold royalties, was done in the national interest and in accordance with the laws of the land.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South who is the Minister of Energy-designate said on Friday he “regrets” his description of Prof. Opoku Agyemang as “a disgrace to education”, adding that with the benefit of hindsight “I am sure the words I used are harsh and I do apologise for it.” Taking his turn at the Appointments Committee of Parliament to be vetted, Dr. Prempeh also withdrew a comment he made against ex-President John Mahama after accusing him of busing people to the Independence Square, Accra, and paying them to feign collapse during the Senior High School (SHS) placement.
