DISCUSSION: The district is seeking bids for a 72-passenger bus. OTHER ACTION:  Issued one-year supplemental head coaching contracts to Chad Butcher, varsity girls’ basketball; Jeremy Ady, varsity boys’ basketball; Aaron Sarbaugh, varsity football; Ben Russell, cross country; Phil Glasgow, girls’ golf; and Marla Terrell volleyball. Granted one-year supplemental contracts to non-district teachers or coaches to the following: Kelly Hysong, assistant softball; and Kelly Marchand, Joel Marchand and Mike Fowler, all volunteer track.

Fairless poised to break ground for new high school

This story has been updated to correct an error. BREWSTER  After years of planning, Fairless Local Schools will break ground this spring on a new high school.  Superintendent Broc Bidlack said no official date has been set for the groundbreaking but the district should begin moving dirt in late April to mid-May.  Officials have discussed the need to replace the aging building, but things got serious when the district began receiving payments from the Rover Pipeline that runs through the district. (The building) has served the Fairless community very well, but everything must come to an end, Bidlack said. The infrastructure of this building is tired.

Fairless BOE sets 2021-22 calendar; classes start Aug 18

Barb Limbacher Tuesday meeting KEY ACTION:  Adopted the 2021-22 school district calendar. DISCUSSION:  The first day of school for students is Aug. 18. Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 24-26, Christmas break is Dec. 20-31, spring break is March 28-31 and last day for students is May 27. OTHER ACTION: Approved contracts for permanent substitutes Bobbie Jo Boehm and Tonya Parker for $100 per day. Superintendent Broc Bidlack said the teachers are being used daily and are only substituting at Fairless. Approved a contract with Victoria Walker, Behavioral Harmony, for one student from Nov. 13 to Jan. 8. Acknowledged minimum wage will increase to $8.80 per hour effective Jan. 1.
