NEWTON, MA Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller delivered the Fiscal Year 2022 budget speech to the city council Wednesday evening. It was the second budget speech presented during the pandemic.
The city plan calls for a $462.7 million operating budget. The Water, Sewer and Stormwater and Community Preservation Funds budgets will be $60.5 million and $4.8 million respectively.
This year s proposed budget is larger than last year s by $26.2 million or 5.2 percent. This is in addition to federal American Rescue Plan Act funds the city is expected to get.
