The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in northwest Denver closed Friday morning for a fatal crash involving a vehicle and motorcycle.
The motorcyclist died in the crash, according to the Denver Police Department. The interstate reopened at 8:15 a.m.
Earlier, officials closed the westbound lanes between Lowell Boulevard (exit 271B) and Sheridan Boulevard (exit 271A).
Jay Casillas with the Denver Police Department said the preliminary investigation showed that a man on the motorcycle was speeding and lost control on a curve in the area. He hit a center barrier and was thrown from the motorcycle, Casillas said. The motorcycle continued moving and hit a vehicle.
