TWO Irish food businesses were served with closure orders in April, after safety chiefs found rodent droppings in one Cork premises.
And a premises in Dublin was also ordered to shut down after a visit from inspectors.

Closure orders were served on food businesses in Cork and Dublin.
Milford Service Station on Redforge Road, Blackpool, in Co Cork was ordered to shut on April 26 2021 under the FSAI Act 1998, with the order lifted the next day.
FSAI inspectors found rodent droppings on shelving, underneath the wash sink, in storage units for dry food and behind the counter on the floor.
Sweets containing significant levels of cannabis components are being sold online and have resulted in at least one person being admitted to hospital after suffering serious side effects.

Written by the FSAI’s Scientific Committee at the request of the Department of Health for scientific advice, the report said it provides comprehensive food-based dietary recommendations that, as part of an overall lifestyle approach, enable people over 65 live life optimally to their individual potential.
The report said the over 65s need ‘high quality proteins to stimulate muscle protein’ and recommended that healthy older adults eat a more protein-dense diet consisting of foods such as meat poultry, fish, dairy and eggs.

Two food outlets were closed last month due to breaches of food safety regulations.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said the Soma restaurant and café on Tuckey Street in Cork was closed due to a grave and immediate danger to public health.
It said rodent droppings were found in the service area of the restaurant and in a store room, where both food and non-food items were kept.
The FSAI also ordered the closure of the Twisted Dough Wicklow, a food stall trading at The Crescent in Boyle, Co Roscommon.
Concerns over cross-contamination were raised after an inspection found that raw chicken was being prepared on a folding table beside the coffee machine at a food stall.
